Change Is Good

The one thing that most frequently keeps people from fully expressing their spiritual nature is fear of change. Most people will say that they want their lives to change but they don’t want to be engaged in the change. It’s like living unconsciously in the basement of life and we keep moving the furniture around, hoping this will bring us happiness. What we really need to do is move to a higher floor in terms of our awareness.

Does fear of change keep you from a more content and truly happy life? If this is true for you then you might want to consider the fact that, in reality, nothing in life is fixed – everything changes. Change is part of the nature of life - all things change. As Scripture tells us ‘this too shall pass.’ Everything passes. This is reality, and there is no value in contesting this truth. In fact, challenging this truth can be quite painful. The point is that knowing this to be true brings us power over what disturbs us. In fact, what causes us most difficulty in life, and keeps us from living the life we really want, are the parts of our current nature that are ‘fixed’ and convince us to resist the natural changes of life.

The Solution

To begin the awakening process is to see that real self-change begins with seeing that life is always about change. When we understand this truth we will see that nothing can disturb us unless we unconsciously allow it. If something in life bothers you – it just means you are bothersome. Nothing and nobody can disturb us without our permission. By our reactions and responses, we create our own experiences.

The ideal solution to the challenges of life is to be willing to walk out of your old way of living by changing how you perceive your life. Come to realize that while the contents of your life may come and go, turn unpleasant, or suddenly seem wonderful – it really doesn’t matter – all things come to pass. Our goal on this path of spiritual evolution is to become a silent and neutral witness or noticer of the movements in our life.

The Witness

As we practice living from this higher consciousness we come to experience the truth, - the great news - that the neutral witness is actually our connection to Absolute Reality. When we become the witness of our personality we are given access to our greatest teacher, Infinite Intelligence. As we develop this new way of living, of witnessing our life, the witness is integrated into our everyday awareness; we allow the inner transformation to heal our mental and emotional selves.

The Higher Way

We will learn to discard the old stories we have carried that have kept us in life’s basement – continuously engaged in the negative and positive dramas of life. The witnessing allows us to begin to see life more clearly and we begin to live more from the heart and soul. We begin to ascend to a higher way of living when we discover that the witness is the Sacred Self and we experience the mystery of grace flowing in our lives. We begin to experience the bliss of life – the way it is meant to be lived!
